We are a Colorado non-profit that provides locally-sourced, aquaponicly grown produce. Abundant Harvest Aquaponics use’s sustainable food production methods and systems. We provide thousands of pounds of organic produce to needy families in our community.
Abundant Harvest Community Garden Outreach was formed in 2010 on 2 acres of land donated by Restoration Church. Using community volunteers, we produced 2,264 pounds of produce the first year. All of the produce harvested was given to local food pantries, the volunteers, and many disadvantaged families (military and civilian) in the Colorado Springs and Fountain communities.
Inspired by the First successful year and looking closely at the needs of our community, we formed a 501-c3 non-profit organization. In 2011, we increased the garden size and added an automated drip system to conserve water and eliminate hand watering.
Abundant Harvest transitioned to Aquaponics in 2012. Aquaponics is a system of farming that grows produce useing fish and water. Aquaponics growing is environmentally friendly, efficient, and produces healthy nutritious produce. This specialized, controlled growing system means, the growing season is extended to year round. Aquaponics uses no pesticides, herbicides, or other chemicals on the produce.
Abundant Harvest Aquaponics has proven the concept.
